January 2010: Cold Chain Management

On Wednesday January 27th the NVC (Dutch Packaging Center) organized a seminar on Cold Chain Management.  Since the beginning of 2009 NOMI owns a new freezing storage cell. With this investment we created opportunities to offer flexible co-packing capabilities for fresh and deep frozen products.

Quality control in the cold chain requires excellent process control. Fluctuations in temperature within the supply chain cannot be prevented, but have to be reduced to a minimum.

Co-packing of deep frozen products cannot be done in temperatures  below zero. We (re)pack the products in a conditioned environment at a minimum of 8 degrees.

As partner in packing we have optimal flexibility in our processes and are used to working in smaller batches, which is a necessity to guard the quality of your delicate and perishable products.

During the seminar Henry Boerrigter, department of Food & Biobased Research of the Wageningen University, emphasized the fact that to optimize its shelf life every product has different requirements in processing and storage. His studies also showed that optimal conditioned storage and processing cannot compensate for inferior quality of the basic product.

NOMI offers a large diversity of flexible packaging capabilities for producers and trading companies of fresh and deep frozen products. Your quality requirements are leading in the packaging solutions we offer.
